Rockhounding Friday!
Every Friday afternoon, I delve into the fascinating world of rocks, fossils, and geology right here in WNY. This week's exploration took me from the Tonawandas, north to Youngstown. While the rain fell in both the Tonawandas and Youngstown, the scenery around Devil's Hole State Park was breathtaking. Venturing down into the Niagara Gorge, I was once again struck by its sheer magnificence!
I'm trying to locate a resource that provides a detailed geological profile of the Niagara Gorge at Devil's Hole, specifically showing how the rock types change as you go from the top to the bottom. Ideally, this resource would include:
Photographs: Clear images of each distinct rock layer.
Detailed Information: Descriptions of the rocks, including their composition, texture, color, and any notable features.
Precise Location Data: Either exact GPS coordinates or very clear indications of where each rock type is visible along the path from the top of the gorge down to the Devil's Hole area.
Does such a resource exist that combines all of this information?
